FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

We currently do not accept insurance for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at North Shore Hyperbarics. However, our clients have had success getting reimbursement through their FSA (Flex Savings Account) or HSA (Health Savings Account).

In the United States, insurance only covers HBOT for 13 approved indications. These indications include air or gas embolism, carbon monoxide poisoning, chronic osteomyelitis, crush injury, comprised skin grafts and flaps, decompression sickness, gas gangrene, and more.

What kind of chamber is at North Shore Hyperbarics?

We have the Vitaeris 320 hyperbaric chambers. This chamber does not exceed 1.3ATA (4psi), accompanied by an oxygen concentrator delivering 94% oxygen.

How long will my session last?

A typical session lasts 60 minutes. However, the technician will work with you to design a protocol to suit your unique physiology. Sessions can vary between 30-90 minutes.

Can I bring anything into the chamber with me?

Clients are allowed to bring their phone (only if it is in good working condition - please no cracked or damaged electronics). Clients are also allowed to bring a computer, a book and headphones inside the chamber.

What should I wear for my session?

We ask that clients wear 100% cotton (or as close to it) for their sessions.

Is anything prohibited inside the chamber?

We do not allow jewelry, cologne, perfume, or hairspray, or hair gels inside the chamber. Your pockets will also need to be emptied before entering the chamber.

Do I need to eat before my session?

We recommend eating at least 20 minutes before your session.

How many sessions do I need in order to start feeling benefits?

It varies - most people do not start to see benefits until about 4-6 consecutive sessions. Our technician will help design a protocol that best fits your needs. Here are suggestions of protocol lengths:

  • 1-5 sessions: for those wishing for a quick boost in health and energy, quickly reduce inflammation, complements other therapies (such as chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, etc.)

  • 6-10 sessions: typically for more recent injuries, strong pain relief and reduction of inflammation

  • 11-20 sessions: for those who need major tissue repair and regeneration, stimulates new collagen and stem cells, creates new blood flow and circulation

  • 20-40 sessions: the gold standard protocol - for people experiencing chronic or serious injuries or ailments, helps fight infections, reverses aging, for those who want to reduce the chances of having major injuries and health challenges in the future
